1st Cebu Youth Assembly on HIV & AIDS (CYAHA) August 2009

YAFA Central Visayas Chapter, upon its realization early 2009, will jump start it's pilot project 1st YAFA Cebu Youth Assembly on HIV&AIDS or YAHA CYAHA slated on August 18, 2009 at Cebu Normal University, Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City. This event is co-organized by CNU Nightingale Student Council, Cebu Youth Center, Inc, Rotaract Club of Metro Cebu - Community Based and It's OK To Ask for Help, Inc..

With the growing concern young people having HIV, Youth AIDS Filipinas Alliance Central Visayas Chapter headed by its Regional Director, Prof. Alvin Cloyd Dakis, CCM, RN is organizing an annual assembly of youth leaders, students and young professionals to talk and discuss the current HIV&AIDS status in the Philippines. After these discussions, leaders from different organizations will converge and shall create programs that would address such needs. Reports on these undertakings shall also be reported to international partner agencies.

CYAHA will be having the National Director and Chairman of the Board, Igor Mocorro as the Keynote Speaker on the 1st and 2nd Plenary Sessions together with Emee Albano of the UN Populations Fund - Philippines, Executive Board Member, John Gatchalian and Regional Director for Central Visayas, Prof. Alvin Dakis. They would be talking about the introduction to HIV&AIDS, the growing concern of HIV&AIDS in the Philippines and the role of the future and young health care professionals in the context of HIV&AIDS prevention, treatment care and support. The assembly would also conduct a community research assessment and some stigma reduction activities.

We are encouraging all youth residing in the Visayas, specifically Central Visayas to join our cause. This is just the beginning of our educational caravan. YAFA Central Visayas, after the successful CYAHA will then expand its programs to Bohol, Siquijor and Negros Oriental and shall replicate this program. After which, the Regional Assembly shall commence. This assembly is projected to happen in 2010 and the 1st National Assembly is slated in 2011.

Be part of the positive change happening in our country. We are positive in eradicating HIV&AIDS in the Philippines. If you are a Filipino youth wanting to help cease HIV&AIDS, then we are calling you to help us battle and stand against HIV&AIDS to destroy our generation.
