It was all over the province, my mobile phone will vibrate every three minutes or so with the same message "Read the S**S**R (a local news paper) at the front page and page A27" as panicking members of the "Active" society here and there are alarmed. I cannot help but find a laugh as if tomorrow is dooms day, all their commotion and buzzes and even of backbiting and gossips that Mr. X is infected or MS. Y is a carrier will tickle your funny bone. Curios about their commotion I grabbed of the day's newspaper, I shove all of my review materials aside and placed the lumpy Perry's Chemical Engineering Handbook on the floor (My bible as of now) and I saw a frog eyed senator yelling "I did not steal!" on the front page and ironically below it is a bold text saying "HIV cases in Cebu Rising-Coordinator says" I read thru the paper pointing that risky behavior not occupation puts an individual at risk of the disease. As i finish the story I initially got their point call center agents are at high risk because of their high risk behavior, but are they the only group that are really at high risk?
Lets give the authority some hints, if they would go to mango square avenue, locate an internet cafe there just across the National Bookstore Mango Branch with a symbol which means "a great amount of number". Now if they would survey randomly all the people in that internet cafe, they would be shocked at the results. Moving on, if the DOH authorities would go out on a Saturday night and again if they would just go to Mango square, locate a drinking pub a.k.a disco bar synonymous with a two digit number and then from there they would do some survey they would be shocked (again) by the results.
What the DOH reports is not the true number of individuals, there are so many out there who are at high risk if not already have it, they just don't want to get tested you know why? because they will get a pointing finger, because they will be laughed at, people will think of them as dirty, their family will hate them, they don't know what to do if they are positive, they would be given a death sentence if they know they are and lastly they wont be doing the "fun" or the "job" they are doing....
We are given with choices, and with this choices we are given two options: Help...or....Ignore and pretend it will just fade away...
I made my choice and I say Help, because ignoring a tangible truth will not change the fact that it is there and it is happening. I borrowed this world from the future generation and therefore it is "MY" responsibility to keep it safe for the next generations to come. Im not a passenger in this planet but I am a crew, and it is my duty to keep my passenger safe as they take the travel with me...
So what is your choice?
