Nothing About Us Without Us... (Established March 2008)

I was walking down the busy Colon street in Cebu. I met an old familiar friend, we both walked as noisy jeepneys pass us by adding more carbon emissions to the ever warming earth. Then suddenly we found ourselves in the old "porn" cinema lane of colon where everyday of the year they will show cheap Asian made straight and at times gay soft or hardcore porn. then suddenly my attention shifted from my friend to the cinemas that is showing a cheap porn gay indie film: "Chub Chaser" I walked around and found another cinema playing: "Butas"....

As I roam around the street I bid farewell to my friend, I walked all the dark corners of an old building, abandoned floors, floors that are filled with plastic that contains traces of rugby. I even visited a floor where i found two syringes. I was aware that I was trespassing yet they are abandoned buildings that transported me to a dark dimension. The smell of the air inside was musky, wet and dirty. As I went outside to welcome the noisy streets I could not help but to questions some people that have been living near the area, and I was startled by what I found.

I was told that these abandoned buildings and even the cinemas have been turned into a motel. people will visit there not only to watch the films, which only cost a very cheap price, but also for some extra service. I was even told that one of the cinemas there is becoming a haven for prostitutes both men, women and people in between.

The next thing that alerted me is what they call "manonohok", these are HIV-AIDS positive individuals who pricks unsuspecting victims with needles that contains their blood. This really alerted me, I ask some people if they heard about the pricking activity, only a handful of them confirmed their existence. As to who or what causes these needle prickers to do such an act was unknown to me. So I decided to hunt for them myself. I went back to the place that night in the hopes that I can meet one of the culprits called "manonohog" (Needle prickers) and to no avail I did not find anyone.

Now this activity raises a concern to me because this might be the next "BIG" thing in the HIV-AIDS history in Cebu City: People who infect others by pricking them with needles contaminated with serum positive blood, and the unfortunate victim is unconscious that he is already infected. I call them the "DAMAY GANG", in which in my logic pricking other people with serum positive contaminated needles bring them gratification by also infecting others. What actions can I do? No I can't do anything, but I will do something soon but the question is where do I start? how can I find these rogue people and convince them to get treatment? Has the Cebu government know about this activity? What can you do?

For me there is only one thing in my mind: Hunting Season is officially open....and it will start in the corners of Colon Street.....
