Nothing About Us Without Us... (Established March 2008)
..on HIV and AIDS...PLEASE STOP THE STIGMA!!!
HIV and AIDS is a pandemic killer at present time. It is one of the silent takers of lives and is behind our conscious minds and keen eyes. It is growing yet hidden. It is likened to the termites in our houses. Our homes may seemed beautiful in the outside yet ruined in the inside. That is how this HIV and AIDS comes into play.
Southeast Asia(where Philippines can be found) is second to Africa with regards to the population of people living with HIV and AIDS. At present, there are already 66 reported cases in BIcol Region and 22 of them comes from Camarines Sur.
HIV and AIDS is an eye opener for us to re-engineer our values and and a wake up call to have a reality check on our behaviors as youth in relation to our adventures. Sometimes, youth as we are, we tend to have voracious imaginations and profound explorations that bring us into hot water. These array of choices our modern world offers make us impulsive and eventually without knowing it, we are already invaded by this monster, the HIV and AIDS.
As one of the agents of change in our parishes and places, let us try to be one those who will help others re-direct their values and see the positive outlook in life. Let us be the forerunners in educating people about these facts.
LET US STOP THE STIGMA AND DISCRIMINATION INSTEAD LET US PROMOTE A HEALING ATMOSPHERE FOR PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV AND AIDS (PLHIV/AIDS) TO LET THEM FEEL THAT THEY ARE STILL PART OF THE COMMUNITY
THEY NEED OUR LOVE, CARE AND SUPPORT!!!

Hello Shem! How are you? Welcome to YAFA. We are an online group of young people working for HIV and AIDS in the Philippines. We appreciate your posting, keep it going. Maybe sometime we can work together. How is your work in Bicol? We have so many Bikolano friends who are HIV+ and yes you are right, we need to fight the STIGMA and DISCRIMINATION associated with this disease. It's about time.
