YAFA Cebu participates in the CCMSAC year-end conference
December 8, 2009 (Tuesday): Cebu City Multi-Sectoral AIDS Council Year-End Conference at the Parklane Hotel.
YAFA Cebu's Andrea Mikko B. Ecarma, RN and Natasha Angelica R. Malinis, RN were very much priviliged to have been invited by Dr. Ilya Tac-an, head of the CCMSAC to its year-end stakeholder's meeting together with the other HIV/AIDS advocate organizations and groups from all over Cebu.
The purposes of the said conference were to update everyone of the current status and situation of HIV/AIDS in Cebu City and so that each organization will be able to present to the rest their activities and achievements for 2009, as well as plans for 2010.
The conference started at around 1 PM and ended almost 5 PM that day, with Dr. Tac-an leading the flock of HIV/AIDS advocates and leaders, including representatives from FREELAVA, REMEDIOS AIDS FOUNDATION, TNF, BIDLISIW, CEBU PLUS and many others.
Ms. Malinis presented YAFA's Vision-Mission, activities and achievements ever since its humble beginnings in 2008, placed emphasis on our two successful youth assemblies in Central and Eastern Visayas and how much the organization has grown for the past year. Our 2010 Action Plans were also laid out and described briefly for everyone to be aware of.
A positive response was gained from the audience as well as from Dr. Tac-an who, in her closing remarks commented that the different HIV/AIDS advocates may have various and different approaches inorder to fight the alarming rise of HIV/AIDS cases in the city, but what is far more important is each and everyone's continued effort and dedication to stand against HIV/AIDS.
